Administration Police and Nairobi City Stars were big winners on the first day of the 2015 GOtv Shield tournament yesterday.

AP, who are handled by former international midfielder Tom Juma, thrashed Taqwa from Isiolo 5-1, while City Stars were too good for Transcom, whom they defeated 6-0.

Both matches were played at Kasarani Stadium. Against Taqwa, AP were gifted with goals from Suleiman Yussuf, who scored a hat-trick, with goals coming in the first minute, third minute and 52nd minute, while Jesse Wabarae and Lawrence Wanyama added one each in the seventh and 60th minute. Abdi Hassan pulled one back for Taqwa in the 10th minute. Meanwhile at Ruaraka Stadium, Kariobangi Sharks drew 1-1 against Talanta in a Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League match.

Ibrahim Kitawi netted the opener for Sharks in the 33rd minute before Patrick Ongoma equalised for Talanta in the 46th minute.

Elsewhere, Madiwa thrashed Kibiru 3-0 in a Nairobi Champions Cup match at Ziwani grounds yesterday afternoon.

Kibiru’s Peter Kamau handled in the box in the 25th, before Isaac Ochieng’ opened Madiwa’s account from the spot.

Two minutes later, the referee awarded Madiwa a penalty again, after Bernard Iswekha was adjudged to have handled in the box. Samuel Malusi made no mistake as he doubled the score for Madiwa.

In the 64th minute, Kibiru’s Joshua Malava handled the ball in the danger zone, which earned Madiwa another spot kick, which Kathungi Secondary School’s student Nelson Osano, slotted home.

In the dying minutes of the match, Madiwa’s custodian fluffed Kibiru’s chance of a consolation goal by stopping a close range shot by Brian Nyapara.
