Football: Nakumatt continues with preps for Shabana match

Nakumatt FC are continuing with preparations for Sunday’s FKF Premier League season-opener match against Shabana FC despite the unresolved impasse over the league expansion.

Nakumatt, Shabana, Posta Rangers and Kakamega Homeboyz are the four teams that have been promoted to the 18 team league that kicks-off on Saturday, one week before the start of the Kenyan Premier League.

According to club’s chairman Ibrahim Karanja, all arrangements for the match to be held at the Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos have been completed.

“Everything is set for the match. All arrangements starting from security to match officials have been finalized. The Federation will provide the referees and as the home team our duty will be to ensure that everybody is safe,” said Karanja during the unveiling of their new signings today.

“We don’t want to be involved in the on-going debate, but as far as we are concerned, FKF are recognized by FIFA and that’s the league we are participating in.”

On his part, Coach Jani Giovani says his charges are going for nothing short of a win.

“I’ve instilled a winning mentality in my players. We must deliver positive results in each and every match we play because our sponsors have given us all the support we needed,” said the Italian.
