"The Chosen One" banner will remain at Old Trafford

The banner hailing Manchester United boss David Moyes as The Chosen One will not be taken down.

The banner has adorned the Stretford End at Old Trafford since Moyes summer arrival at the club from Everton.

It points towards the fact that the 50-year-old was handpicked by former manager Sir Alex Ferguson - whom the Mirror Football poll blames for United's current strife - to be his successor.

And despite the side's recent struggles - including Sunday's 3-0 defeat on home soil by bitter rivals Liverpool - Stretford End Flags, who own the banner and are responsible for it, today said it would resist calls from fans to have it removed.

Additionally, they also urged United supporters to get behind their team, irrespective of their feelings towards Moyes.
