Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho denies he was upset at missing out on Manchester United job

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has mocked suggestions that he broke down and cried upon being overlooked for the Manchester United job, stating a return to Stamford Bridge was always his preferred option.

There were reports ahead of Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement that Mourinho was interested in replacing the legendary Scot at Old Trafford, only for Ferguson to anoint David Moyes as his hand-picked successor.

However, ahead of the weekend's meeting between United and Mourinho's Blues, he has declared Torres' words as mere fiction.
