Chilulu and High Roller back with similar plan as Armstrong’s Girl

Kenya’s home-bred Chilulu (Josphat Kultiang) is welcomed back at Ngong Racecourse to inject a colourful stretch for Armstrong’s Girl (James Muhindi) bid in the Montgomery Bowl.

Accompanying him is High Roller, ridden by this afternoon’s birthday lady, Lesley Sercombe. Both horses have been recuperating for the best part of two seasons. Chilulu is now trained by his part-owner, Joe Muya.

However, if Armstrong’s Girl has adapted wisely to her new adornment of blinkers, it could be over as fast as physics will allow. Shame about Simon Wachira and Ibrahim, flying their nest-egg coops, but these things happen. There are always other ‘matatus’ waiting in the wings to keep those old wheels turning. They have each contributed to our pleasure vines in the past.

The Pokomo Maiden has five unknown youngsters searching for mass identification. Four are trained by Patsy Sercombe, leaving Aunty Grace to fend alone as a Nakuru product.

Pasha Sultan (Robert Kibet) has pedigree on his side to preserve some golden aspic that he produced last season. Running in the Jibana Handicap, 2,400m, Pasha Sultan will have to be astute, if he plans to handcuff Roxanne, Mulligan, and Pot Pourri.
