The Nzomo trio of Raphael, Amani and Jadini starred for their teams in the Resolute Soldiers Salute Polo Championships as Twiga defeated Kifaru 8-5.5 at Nairobi Polo Club yesterday.

Though playing for different sides, the trio emerged as match makers for Jadini, who was voted the Most Valuable Player and was awarded the trophy by Major(Retired) Jammie Haward (of the British Army), the tournament' sponsor.

"It was tough and challenging playing against my father (Raphael) and sibling (Amani), but I'm glad to have emerged victorious," Jadini said.

Jadini stands to improve on his handicap following this victory having also been voted an MVP in the 2019/2020 season.

With that, he's improved his chances of being selected into the national teams that will face South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe in international assignments this year.

Other Twiga team members included handicap 2.5 Jules Camm, Louis Du Toit (0.5) and Miranda Romijn (-1.5). Jadini scored a hatrick while Toit and Camm managed a double each, all spread in the four chukkas.

Raphael (one) and Amani (four) scored for Kifaru, a side that also included  Rowena Stichbury (0) and Jamie Excel (-1.5).

"The win has prepared me adequately for this weekend championships (Chairman's Cup) and it was a real morale booster," Jadini said.
