Son Heung-min has been pictured with a rifle and wearing bulletproof gear as he continues his military training in South Korea.

The Tottenham Hotspur star is serving a three-week mandatory stint with the country's Marine Corps.

He is currently based at Seogwipo on the island of Jeju - to the south coast of the the South Korean mainland.

Son has been learning a variety of new skills as part of his training, including rifle shooting and 'discipline education'.

And he has been seen in bulletproof camouflage gear and holding a rifle as he enters the later stages of his training.

Other aspects of his service have included exposure to tear gas and chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear exercises.

Tottenham Hotspur players are back in training under boss Jose Mourinho and Son will return to north London after serving the remainder of his time with the military.

Men in South Korea are obliged to complete 21 months of national service before the age of 28.

However, Son earned an exemption after captaining his country to victory in the 2018 Asian Games - though he still needed to serve for three weeks after returning to his homeland in March.

Son has not featured for Spurs since fracturing his arm in February during the dramatic 3-2 win over Aston Villa. He struck twice at Villa Park to earn the visitors the three points that day.

Before that, the winger had been enjoying an excellent campaign with 16 goals and nine assists in 32 appearances in all competitions.

Spurs crashed out of the Champions League and FA Cup in Son's absence and lost five of their six games without him, drawing the other.

His return to first-team action cannot come soon enough for Mourinho. Spurs face an uphill battle to close the four-point gap on fifth-place Manchester United and secure qualification for next season's Champions League.
