Mesut Ozil continued to make an impact off the pitch by giving a seriously ill teenager an experience he will never forget during Arsenal's thrilling Premier League clash with Everton on Sunday.

Ozil invited 17-year-old Jake to watch the Gunners' victory over the Toffees from his box at the Emirates Stadium.

Jake has had to endure surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy since being diagnosed with Astrocytoma Left Hemiplegia in January 2019.

The North Londoner's dream from a young age was to become a professional footballer and he was treated to an unforgettable experience by the Germany international.

In addition to receiving a signed shirt from Ozil's wife, Amine, the teenager was also given the opportunity to meet the 31-year-old in person after the final whistle.

“Jake lives, breathes and eats football," said Jake's mother, Bal. "The wish was absolutely incredible and beyond all our expectations. “We had a great day and felt very spoilt. Jake was the happiest I have seen him in long time!

"Ozil’s family were so lovely and kind to us. We are so grateful to you all for a truly memorable day.”

Ozil has been working with Rays of Sunshine Children's Charity since 2018 and has regularly given up his time to help grant wishes for seriously ill kids across the UK.

The Arsenal star added: “It was an honour to have Jake and his mum as special VIP guests at the match on Sunday.

"It’s always an honour to meet such brave and inspiring children and work with Rays of Sunshine to grant magical wishes.

"It always makes me happy to be able to make a difference and put a smile on the children’s faces.”

It was also a good day for Arsenal on the pitch, as Mikel Arteta's side won 3-2 to secure their third win in the space of seven days.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang netted a brace to add to Eddie Nketiah's opener and help the Gunners over the line against Carlo Ancelotti's in-form team.
