Kisumu All-Stars head coach Frank Oduor is confident his charges can continue their impressive form and qualify for the 2019-20 SportPesa Premier League even after drawing 0-0 with Bidco United over the weekend.

The Blue Eagles are top of the National Super League (NSL) with 64 points, one ahead of second-placed Wazito.

Fred Ambani’s Wazito thrashed Kenya Police 5-2 on Sunday courtesy of Derrick Onyango’s brace and a goal a piece by Victor Ndinya, Wilson Anekeya and Amos Asembeka as David Oluoch and Abraham Dawo got the consolation for Police.

Speaking to Standard Sports yesterday, Oduor affirmed that his boys are fired up and have not ruled out winning the super league title.

“We have been patient since the second leg began and are happy that we have been getting good results. And now we have the opportunity to not only qualify for the top flight football but also win the title,” he said.

In Nairobi, two goals from Chris Owino and Job Tinyo saw FC Talanta upset Ushuru 2-1 at Camp Toyoyo to move to within six points of the top four.

Talanta coach Abdalla Juma believes they can catch the top teams.

“We still have seven matches to play so it’s still open for us to make the cut,” Juma said.

Brian Yakhama scored Ushuru’s consolation goal, but it was not enough for the taxmen as the loss saw them drop to fourth with 59 points, five points adrift of leaders Kisumu.

“We did not get results we wanted especially in the past four matches. However, we no have the opportunity to respond when we visit league leaders Kisumu over the weekend,” Ushuru coach Ken Kenyatta said.

Nairobi Stima moved into third place with 61 points after downing St Joseph Youth 1-0 at Karuturi Grounds.

In Kakamega, relegation-threatened Green Commandos registered a surprise big win of the weekend after thumping Migori Youth 5-0 at Bhukungu Stadium.

Athanas Masheti and James Asham both scored a brace before Castro Bandi added the fifth for the students, who now move to within six points of Nairobi City Stars as they seek to avoid relegation.
