KPC volleyball club has romped into the quarterfinals of the 30th edition of the Africa Club Championship in Cairo, Egypt.
Buoyed by the 3-0 defeat against Rwanda Revenue Authority in the opening game, the oil merchants confirmed the earlier victory by registering a similar victory of 3-0 of 25-15, 25-17 and 25- 21 against the Egyptian side.
International Gaudencia Makokha's ten points serve made the much-needed difference in the second set for the former seven times continental winners.
KPC's victory, therefore, renders tomorrow's encounter against FAP of Cameroon a formality as both teams have secured spots in the last eight.
Speaking after the game, KPC head coach Margaret Indakhala said whereas Shooting provide resistance, it's against FAP that the rubber will meet the road.
"The Cameroonian side has greatly improved over the years and might be a force to reckon with. We are however optimistic we shall overcome," Indakhala said.
Making her maiden appearance in the championship, setter Esther Mutinda admitted invaluable satisfaction.
"It has always been my lifelong dream to play in the diadem. I'm indebted to KPC for this opportunity," Mutinda said.
