Evra and former teammate trade blows after Man United win

Former Manchester United and France star Patrice Evra was involved in a bitter exchange with former teammate Jérôme Rothen after Man Utd beat PSG in dramatic fashion in the UEFA Champions League.

Rothen accused Evra of disrespecting the French fans with his celebration alongside Paul Pogba in the Presidential box at the Parc des Princes, describing his behaviour as ‘unacceptable.’

"Whether he makes his videos outside or in the locker room, let him be happy, OK, we agree that he created history with Manchester United and not that of PSG, but it's a question of respect, of education, frankly, Patrice, you're my friend, but do not do that!" said Rothen.

He, however, did not have an issue with Pogba since he is currently a Man United player.

“Pogba? No problem, He is a United player so he can celebrate, but you Patrice? You cannot do that!”

His sentiments drew an almost immediate reaction from Evra who said he would slap him the next time they met.

"As soon as I cross you I'm going to give you a good slap in the face, and you know I'm not speaking for nothing,” said former Monaco left back on Instagram.

Rothen and Evra played together for Monaco and were part of the club’s squad that reached the Champions League final in 2004, losing 3-0 to Jose Mourinho’s Porto.

Manchester United’s comeback against PSG was widely unexpected after the Parisian outfit eased to a 2-0 win at Old Trafford a fortnight ago.

An injury-ravaged United side did not give the fans much hope either, but an early error by PSG’s defence gifted Romelu Lukaku with an opener.

PSG quickly restored parity via Juan Bernat who found himself in acres of space after shambolic defending by the Red Devils but an unexpected error by Italian keeper Gianluigi Buffon gave the away side a 2-1 lead before the break.

Thomas Tuchel’s side looked in cruise control of the tie-up until the final minutes of the match when an ambitious shot by Diogo Dalot hit the arm of Presnel Kimpembe.

The referee sought the assistance of VAR and duly awarded a penalty that was carefully dispatched by a nervous-looking Marcus Rashford.
