Wazito FC stretched their lead at the top of the National Super League standings after a comfortable 4-0 win over relegation threatened Green Commandos in a mid-week match at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.

Muhammed Ahmed’s troops are now three points clear of second-placed Ushuru who once again failed to find a way past a resolute St Joseph Youth side at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru.

Ahmed praised his team for producing a masterclass performance and single out his strikers who he said were on top form.

“We showed that we are serious with getting back to the Premier league and three points clear at the top is a breather even though the boys should not relax because we are still far from the finish line,” he said.

Wazito forward Derrick Onyango hit a brace with Dennis Gicheru and David Oswe scoring a goal each to seal the win that took them up to 34 points after 14 games.

At Camp Toyoyo, Chris Owino came off the bench to inspire Talanta to a 2-1 win over Nairobi City Stars to move to within three points of second placed Ushuru.

Paul Karuri gave Talanta the lead in the 39th minute before Ugandan Sande Katumba levelled the scores for Jimmy Kintu’s side in the 80 minute before Owino scored the late winner.

Talanta head coach Abdallah Juma  was impressed with his team’s performance.
