Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has spoken out about egos at Manchester United and revealed where Jose Mourinho went wrong with Paul Pogba.

Mourinho clashed with the £89million Frenchman his entire tenure as Red Devils boss and even dropped the midfielder to the bench for his final two matches in charge.

Since Solskjaer has taken the reins on a temporary basis Pogba is a player re-born and has been scoring goals and assisting for fun.

Ahead of Manchester United's FA Cup fourth round clash with Arsenal on Friday Solskjaer was asked about the egos in the dressing room and explained players like Pogba weren't given the opportunity to express themselves under the last regime.

Solskjaer told BBC Sport: "Players want to be successful, they want to win and to do their best. And if you let them express themselves they cannot out-perform your ego.

"They have to be able to believe in themselves, you know Paul for example, he's a big character, a big personality, but that's the whole Paul Pogba - the human being - package, the footballer.

"I met him and his brothers and mum and dad when he was over here as a 16-year-old.

"They are a happy family, you see them dance and enjoy themselves, so why no enjoy yourself here as well?"
