Lang headed home in the 88th minute, moments after Latics goalkeeper Daniel Iversen had saved a penalty from Fulham substitute Aleksandar Mitrovic.

The much-changed hosts looked comfortable after opening the scoring through Denis Odoi at Craven Cottage.

But Sam Surridge levelled from the spot with 14 minutes to go for the visitors.

It came after Ryan Sessegnon bundled Peter Clarke to the ground in the area, and sparked a dramatic finish.

Mitrovic’s spot-kick was his first touch in the game after being brought on by boss Claudio Ranieri for the hosts, but Iversen made a smart save.

Oldham, led by caretaker boss and Latics fan Pete Wild, celebrated in front of their travelling supporters at the final whistle after knocking out a side 59 places above them.

Oldham fan Wild was handed a late Christmas present over the festive period - the gift of managing Latics on a caretaker basis following Frankie Bunn’s sacking.

Elsewhere, Phil Foden scored his first goal at Etihad Stadium as a strong Manchester City side hit seven against Rotherham to reach the FA Cup fourth round.

Midfielder Foden, 18, made it 2-0 from the edge of the six-yard box after Raheem Sterling had opened the scoring from Kevin de Bruyne’s pass.

Championship side Rotherham found it tough going and an own goal by Semi Ajayi made it 3-0 before half-time.

Gabriel Jesus, Riyad Mahrez, Nicolas Otamendi and Leroy Sane also scored.

It was another powerful attacking performance by Pep Guardiola’s defending Premier League champions against a side who are 21st in the second tier.

The visitors did force goalkeeper Ederson into a fine save to deny Michael Smith in the closing stages but Rotherham remain without a win in the FA Cup since November 2013.
