Kisumu RFC coach Howard Okwemba has signed three players from Western Bulls in readiness for the return of the 2018/2019 KRU Championship season next week after a four week Christmas break.

Reinhardt Ashioya (centre), Erastus Wanyama (scrumhalf) and Victor Brolyn (second row) joined the lakeside rugby team after temporarily training with the Kisumu squad from the start of the season last year.

Kisumu are currently fifth in the championship standings with 16 points after winning three, drawing one and losing one from their first five games of the season.

Okwemba told The Standard Sports he was confident that the new players will propel them up in the table in their bid to catch up with leaders USIU Martials.

“We are trailing the students who are leading by five points which is not that bad. But we have to be more serious in the second round since we will be tackling very tough teams and the addition of three more skilled players will help,” the former Western Bulls said.
