Juve make position on Douglas Costa clear after 'Man Utd's £60m bid'

Since the sacking of Jose Mourinho, Manchester United have been linked with a sensational £60m move for Douglas Costa.

Sources in Italy claim a bid has been lodged for the talented Brazilian right winger - with new boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keen to strengthen his squad.

The Norwegian interim boss was even said to have been consulted before Ed Woodward, a long-time admirer of the winger, put in the bid.

But now Juventus have spelt out exactly where they stand with the 28-year-old.

Club sources have told Calciomercato that he CAN move to the Premier League - but not now.

The Brazilian has played only 16 matches in all competitions for Juve this season having made his loan deal permanent in the summer.

Costa has made 12 Serie A appearances this term but has come off the bench nine times, leading to speculation that he doesn't have a long-term future in Turin.

But Juventus now say they have no intention of letting him go until the summer at least - as he is still integral to their Champions League plans.

And on top of that Costa has told his agent that he doesn't want to leave Turin.

That may change in the summer, however.

The 28-year-old only made his switch from Bayern Munich permanent last summer, costing them €40m after a successful loan spell.

Woodward is now in charge of transfers after Mourinho's sacking.

However, Manchester United are said to be stockpiling cash for their next permanent boss.

Solskjaer was told by executive vice-chairman Woodward prior to taking the job that he will only be allowed to add players on loan until the end of the season.
