The recently concluded Safaricom Mini Classic Rally held in honour of the late JS Vohra “Pinky” raised Sh750,000 (US$ 7,369.16) to Amref Health Africa to fund Anti Female Genital Mutilation campaigns.

The donation, presented to the charitable organisation, was accrued from the event’s entry fees of Sh441,000 (US$ 4,333.06) received from 21 competitors in addition to Sh309,000 (US$ 3,036.09) courtesy of East African Safari Rally Limited Chairman Raju Kishinani.

Amref Health Africa’s mission is to increase sustainable health access to communities in Africa through solutions in human resources for health, health services delivery and investments in health.

“Our charity initiative with Amref Health goes a long way in making a difference to underprivileged girls in the countryside whose lives have been ruined by FGM menace. This was a charity that late Atu Vohra (wife of JS Vohra) wanted us to donate to as it was very close to her heart.” said Kishinani.
