Ujuzi Academy team off to Barcelona for Koolton camp
Ujuzisoka Academy last evening sent a group of 40 Under 16 years players to Salou, Barcelona in Spain for a week-long intensive football training to be conducted by Koolton Soccer Camps.
The group is a combination of players and teams drawn from several football academies in Nairobi.
The players travelled under the umbrella of Ujuzisoka Academy based Parklands Sports Club, Nairobi.
The youngsters will be trained under the Spanish Youth soccer program in partnership with Koolton of Sen Sebastian in Spain.
According to Ujuzisoka Director Paul Olungae the players will not only be trained and coached using Spanish Youth Soccer model, but also get a chance of playing against youth teams in Salou, Cambrils and Reus in Spain.
“We have had a longstanding relationship with Koolton Soccer Camps, which has really impacted well on the young players’ dreams to one day play at the highest level,” Olungae said.
Marc Miquel, the Koolton Youth Head Coach assigned to the teams said that the Spanish Youth teams selected to play the Kenyan sides will be commensurate with the strength of the Kenyan boys.
“The youthful players will training and get the feel of game situations on artificial turf and therefore get great exposure on the European type of playing surfaces, which are also becoming popular in Nairobi,” Miquel told Standard Sports yesterday.
One of the star players, Mammo Yohannis Nyiera, a form three pupil at Nova Pioneer School, said he was looking forward to the new experience.
Ameer Ali, a midfielder at Arya Primary school is also confident that the Spanish Youth training experience will give him good exposure.
