SAD: Legendary ski racer Miller's toddler daughter drowns in neighbour's swimming pool

The toddler of legendary ski racer Bode Miller has drowned in a neighbour's swimming pool.

Miller, a former Olympic and World Cup champion, and his pregnant wife Morgan Beck were at a party at a neighbour's property when 19-month-old Emeline died, reports claim.

On Monday, he paid a heart-rending tribute to his daughter, telling how he was "beyond devastated and adding that "her love, her light, her spirit will never be forgotten".

The incident happened in Orange County, California, reports TMZ.

Fire and rescue officers and paramedics rushed to the scene in Coto de Caza at around 6.30pm on Saturday.

Attempts to resuscitate Emeline were unsuccessful and she was taken to hospital.

Emeline, the youngest of Miller's grandmother, was the youngest of his four children.

On Instagram he shared several pictures of the little girl, along with a video showing her being kissed on the cheek by her mum. She can be heard saying "Hi, Dada".

Miller wrote: "We are beyond devastated.

"Our baby girl, Emmy, passed away yesterday. Never in a million years did we think we would experience a pain like this.

He added: "Her love, her light, her spirit will never be forgotten. Our little girl loved life and lived it to its fullest every day.

"Our family respectfully requests privacy during this painful time."

On Monday, the US Ski and Snowboard Team offered condolences.

On Twitter, they wrote: "It is with the utmost sadness that we learned today of the passing of @MillerBode's daughter Emmy. The thoughts and prayers of everyone at U.S. Ski & Snowboard and across the whole snowsports world are with Bode, his wife Morgan and their family at this time."

The US Olympic Team added: "Terribly sad news in the Olympic Movement today. #TeamUSA sends sincere condolences to @MillerBode and his family, along with wishes of strength and comfort."

Miller, 40, is the most decorated male US skier, with 33 World Cup wins, two titles, four world championships and six Olympic medals to his name. He retired in 2017 and began investing in racing horses.

Emeline was his second child with Morgan, a professional volleyball player and model. They also have son Nash Skan Miller, born in May 2015. She is pregnant with their third child.

Miller has two children from previous relationships.
