KEFOFA threatens demonstration against Mwendwa and FKF

Kenya Football Fans Association (KEFOFA) supremo have announced that they will organize a protest against Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Nick Mwendwa following some actions of the federation boss.
Chairman Francis Liboyi accuses Mwendwa of running national teams like his own properties at the expense of much coveted results.

He explains that the recently witnessed action where former head coach Stanley Okumbi was demoted from the senior team to the U20 team was ill-advised and that Okumbi should have been completely axed.

“FKF boss Nick Mwendwa is taking Kenyan football for granted. He makes unimaginable decisions which end up hurting the sport more. For example, how do you redeploy someone who has proved his weakness over a time, to the same system?” he jested.
His rant was even intensified with the fact that coach Okumbi could not beat Rwanda at home, with the Kenya U20 team.

“Look. We even failed to beat Rwanda on our own soil. It simply shows that something is not right somewhere. And the power is vested in the FKF chief Nick Mwendwa. As fans, we are not happy and I think time has come for us to show our presence. We will stage a massive protest from the city to the federation’s Goal Project office with demands of changes,” he said.

Liboyi is more angered by the fact that FKF changed the constitution to exclude fans representation. According to him, fans are an integral part of sports which must be given a voice in the constitution.
In the previous constitution, fans’ association was clearly indicated but the new one, which was adopted by delegates in November 2017, deleted the section. Only the referees, coaches and players are now recognized as associations.

“Fans are the main stakeholders of football and you cannot do without them. Why did they change the katiba to do away with us? I think being a representation to the FKF should be a right to fans because without fans, there’s not football,” he said.

He added. “As the newly elected officials in Kefofa, we are keen on streamlining everything in the beautiful game so as to improve in the sport. We could sit down and talk with the federation but it seems they don’t want us anymore. As a result, we will soon announce a date for a major demonstration against them (FKF) in search of our rights.”

The fans association has so far promised to sponsor about 50 fans to Russia for the 2018 World Cup tournament.
