Sevilla midfielder Guido Pizarro had some explaining to do after he was spotted wearing Cristiano Ronaldo shin pads during his side's defeat to Real Madrid.
TV cameras filmed the bright pink pads next to his folded shirt ahead of the game, sparking a frenzy on social media.
Pizarro's day then went from bad to worse as Los Blancos thumped their La Liga rivals 5-0, making the Argentine's choice of pad look even more embarrassing.
The midfielder apologised to Sevilla supporters following the game, and explained that he was left with little choice but to wear the shin pads.
According to Pizarro, his usual pair broke shortly before kick-off and he was left desperately searching for a replacement set.
He eventually got his hands on some makeshift ones inside the Bernabeu, which just so happened to feature Ronaldo's world-famous CR7 branding.
Pizarro later took it one step further by posted a picture of his usual shin pads featuring photographs of his family on Twitter.
