Boxing: Stage set for Jamhuri championships

Hosts Nakuru Amateur Boxing Club will face Kaloleni ABC on Saturday at Madison Square Garden in the Jamhuri Boxing Championships.

Nakuru will take part in the tournament with a keen eye on recruiting more boxers who will feature in the National Novices Championships and National Intermediate Championships.

“It is a way of keeping our youths busy during the holiday season as we seek to bolster our squad for next season,” Boxing Association of Kenya Rift Valley branch vice chairman Mwangi Muthoga said.

Winners in the one-day event will receive trophies. The tourney is sponsored by former boxer John Mwago. [Ben Ahenda]
