Mathare United rallied to hold hosts Bandari to a 2-2 draw as Zoo Kericho bounced back to winning ways with a 4-2 thrashing of visiting Western Stima in yesterday's Kenyan Premier League matches.

Harambee Stars trialist Nicholas Kipkirui scored twice with his striking partner Bernard Odhiambo and midfield sensation Mike Madoya netting one goal each to complete a double over the Stima side.

Zoo, ranked 10th in the league standings, went into the match limping after they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Sony Sugar and 6-0 humiliation at the hands of Mathare United in their last two fixtures.

"It was a great response from the boys after losing our last two matches (Mathare United and Sony Sugar)," jubilant Zoo coach Sammy Okoth told The Standard Sports.

"We played the last two matches without any training because the boys were voting in the General Election. So, those two matches were like our preparation for today's (yesterday) game and I am happy we bounced back in style," he said.

In Mombasa, Shaban Kenga put the dockers ahead in the 13th minute when he soared to rocket home a header from Ugandan import Fred Nkata's delivery.

However, his celebration was cut short when John Mwangi, who shrugged off a challenge from experienced defender Noah Abich, equalised for a 1-1 draw at halftime.

Bandari regained the lead in the 77th minute through former Gor Mahia burly striker Enoch Agwada after he capitalised on a goal-mouth melee.

With the game headed for a draw, youthful Elijah Mwanzia came off the bench to grab a point for the former champions after connecting Martin Ongori's cross deep into stoppage time.

It was a similar result in Mumias, where champions Tusker's winless run continued after they drew against Kakamega Homeboyz while Sony Sugar's match against Kariobangi Sharks in Awendo ended in a barren draw.

Wycliffe Opondo broke the deadlock in the 49th minute.
