Governor’s Cup: Jijazie and True Gunners to fight for Sh1.5m in Nairobi County final

Jijazie FC from Kamukunji and True Gunners FC from Kibra will fight it out for the Sh1.5 million prize money on offer at the ongoing Nairobi Governor’s Cup football tournament in Nairobi.

Jijazie FC beat Makongeni Youth 3-1 on post-match penalties to emerge the Nairobi Governor’s Cup Eastern Zone champions at City Stadium at the weekend. True Gunners edged out Ngei United 2-1 to emerge the Western Zone champions at Woodley grounds in Kibra.

The match pitting Jijazie FC and Makongeni Youth was a tough one as the sides tied 2-2 in regulation time.

Athman Buki and Francis Ochola scored for Jijazie before Makongeni Youth equalised through Godrick Juma and Ricky Onimbo to set up the penalty shootout.

The women’s Eastern Zone final was won by Kariobangi Sports Ladies, who thumped St Ann Eaglets 5-0 at City Stadium.
