Harambee stars move up 10 places in Fifa world rankings

Last month was a good one for the national team Harambee Stars who won all their two friendly matches at the Machakos Stadium.

The impact is already being felt less than two weeks later as the team jumped a record 10 places in the fifa rankings going to 78th place.

This is one of the highest rankings the team has ever achieved. In 2008, they reached 68th, which still remains the highest.

The latest ranking comes in the wake of wins against Democratic Republic of Congo whom Stars edged out 2-1 and a 1-0 win against Uganda Cranes.

Stars will play Malawi next week in another friendly international in Machakos.

The match will feature home-based players and is being played outside the Fifa window and will not count towards better rankings.

Uganda remain the highest ranked country in the region and are placed 75th while Tanzania made a massive leap; jumping up 22 places to stand at 135th position.

Egypt is the highest ranked African country as they are placed in 19th place.
