Teacher trainees ready for games

The stage is set for this year's Kenya Teachers Colleges Sports Association (KTCSA) national ball game championships that begin tomorrow in Kericho.

Kericho Teachers Training College will be a battlefield as the trainees battle for top honours. At stake are the football, goalball, basketball, hockey, handball, volleyball, and netball titles in the men's and women's categories.

Asumbi of Nyanza and Eregi of western Kenya, who dominated last year's games, will be out to defend their trophies in different disciplines. Last year, Asumbi won the basketball and netball titles, while Eregi bagged the football and hockey titles in both the men's and women's categories.

Eregi are in Group B in men's football together with Tambach of Rift Valley and Asumbi. Last year's silver medallists, Kigari of Eastern, top group Group B and will battle Islamic TTC of Coast, Kilimambogo, and Machakos. In the women's category, Kaimosi are in Group B with Islamic, Kilimabogo, and Mosoriot. [Elizabeth Mburugu]
