Spanish midfielder Santi Cazorla has now been ruled out for the season with a long-term ankle injury, as predicted in Sportsmail last month.
Cazorla hasn’t played since October due to the problem and had surgery to cure his achilles tendon injury last month. He was expected to be out until March, but the influential Spaniard suffered a setback in his recovery that caused him to require an additional operation.
Manager Arsene Wenger said last month: “Santi is far from starting to run again. He had a little procedure and we have a meeting with the medical people today to see what it really was.
