CHESS: KCB off to flying start in league

National Chess League champions KCB started their title defence in top form thrashing new comers Black Knights 5-0 as the tournament started on Sunday.

The bankers who boast of top players including FM Steve Ouma won all their matches on the first day of the tournament signaling their serious intentions of retaining the title.

Equity Bank who finished runners-up last season also won their match by beating Eastlands 4-1. Nairobi Gymkhana found it easy against NACHA whom they trounced 5-0. Other winners were Deadly Bishops against Tritonite Stars 4-1, Chechmates hit University of Nairobi 4-1 with JKUAT beating NACHA.
