The 11th edition of Shanzu Open Sports Day takes place today and tomorrow with a record 94 teams participating in different disciplines.

The event will be at Shanzu Teachers Training College and Shimo La Tewa School where basketball, 15s rugby, netball, volleyball, handball and girls football will be competed for.

Event convener Patrick Water said the number of participating teams has increased from last year’s 82 to 94. The event has teams from Kilifi, Kwale, Taita Taveta and Mombasa counties. Waweru said the two-day tournament is meant to prepare and gauge the teams’ preparations ahead of the school’s first term games later this month.
