Chelsea are planning to hijack Real Madrid’s £75million summer swoop for Sergio Aguero, with the Argentinian star not prepared to be a second-choice striker at Manchester City.

European champions Real have held a long-term interest in Aguero and are on red alert now the explosive arrival of 19-year-old Brazilian Gabriel Jesus has clouded the Argentinian’s future.

But Chelsea would also be major bidders if Aguero decides his career at the Etihad has run its course next summer.

Manager Antonio Conte and his runaway Premier League leaders are still unclear whether 28-year-old top scorer Diego Costa sees his future at Stamford Bridge.

Spain international Costa was recently reported to have been involved in a training ground bust-up and the West Londoners are exploring their attacking options for next season - with Aguero on their radar.

Aguero fears the arrival of Brazilian wonderkid Jesus has dented his status as City’s number one striker.

And he’s made it clear to his advisors he won’t accept playing second fiddle to the talented teenager, who is seen as Brazil’s saviour back in his homeland.
