In a tale of mixed fortunes for Kenyan rugby, the Kenya Sevens and Kenya Lionesses experienced contrasting results at the ongoing second leg of the Challenger Series in Montevideo, Uruguay.

Kenya Sevens emerged victorious in their quarterfinal clash against Uganda, securing a spot in the semifinals, while the Kenya Lionesses were knocked out by China in a hard-fought encounter.

The Kenya Sevens team showcased resilience and determination as they battled to a narrow 7-5 victory over Uganda at the Estadio Charrúa.

Despite falling behind early due to a penalty try awarded to Kenya, Uganda fought back fiercely, with Philip Wokorach scoring their sole try.

However, Kenya held firm defensively, denying Uganda the opportunity to convert the try, ultimately securing their spot in the semifinals.

On the other hand, the Kenya Lionesses faced a tough challenge against China in the quarterfinals.

Despite their efforts, they were unable to overcome the strong Chinese side, falling to a 24-7 defeat in a rematch of the Dubai gold medal final.

With Kenya Sevens set to face Hong Kong China in the semifinals, the team will be looking to build on their momentum and secure a spot in the final.

Meanwhile, the Kenya Lionesses may have been knocked out of the competition, but they have undoubtedly gained valuable experience and will be eager to bounce back stronger in future tournaments.
