Shitundo tops Kenya Cup try-scoring charts ahead of resumption

Menengai Oilers skipper Chrispin Shitundo leads the Kenya Cup try-scoring charts ahead of the top tier league’s resumption on Saturday.

Shitundo has landed five tries, one more than KCB’s Vincent Onyala and Blak Blad’s Archadius Khwesa who are on four tries apiece.

Seven other players, namely the Kabras Sugar trio of Hillary Mwanjilwa, Teddy Akala and Derrick Ashiundu as well as Mark Wandeto (Kenya Harlequin), Festus Safari (Strathmore Leos), Kennedy Wanyoike (Nondescripts) and Tyson Maina (Menengai Oilers) have landed three tries each.

Kabras Sugar utility back Ntabeni Dukisa sits top of the points scorers chart with 35 points coming off 1 try and 15 conversions with Resolution Impala Saracens’ Quinto Ongo second on 29 points off 7 penalties and 4 conversions.

Shitundo third overall on 25 points off 5 tries as Mwamba’s Charles Kuka ( 24 points) as well as Brunson Madigu (Strathmore Leos) and Timothy Okwemba (Menengai Oilers) round off the top five, tied on 21 points, each having landed 1 try, 4 penalties and 2 conversions.

The 2021/22 Kenya Cup season will resume on Saturday with five matches scheduled to take place in five venues across the country.

The early kick off clash will see Blak Blad tackle Mwamba in a match slated for KCB Sports Club at 1:00 PM. They will then pave way for defending Champions KCB Rugby who will take on Impala Saracens in a 3:00 PM kick off.

At Madaraka Grounds, Strathmore Leos will welcome MMUST Rugby Club in another 3:00 PM kick off clash.

Homeboyz are set to host Nakuru RFC at Jamhuri Grounds, it will be the Deejays first match at the venue since their 22-22 draw against KCB in 29 February 2020.

Menengai Oilers will entertain Kenya Harlequins in a match scheduled for Nakuru ASK Showground
