REVENGE MISSION: Quins beat Kabras to set up quarter final clash with KCB

Kenya Harlequins beat a resilient Kabras Sugar 39-30 in a thrilling pre-quarterfinal at the RFUEA grounds on Saturday to set up an explosive quarter-final clash with last year’s Enterprise Cup losing finalists Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB).

Having lost 74-15 to the Kenya Cup champions KCB in the league, Quins team manager Jimmy Munene said they were motivated by the weekend’s victory and would be going out for revenge at The Lions Den in Ruaraka, this Saturday.

“I congratulate the boys and the technical bench for a job well done. Kabras gave us a good run for our money and helped us identify our mistakes,” Munene told FeverPitch on Saturday.

“We are going to ensure the players are in good shape ahead of the semis. As the hosts, and having won the Kenya Cup, KCB are strong, but let them know there is revenge in the offing.”

Strathmore Leos coach Mitch Ocholla is savouring his side’s first ever Enterprise Cup win after beating Mean Machine 38-22 at Madaraka.

MISSING PLAYERS

Ocholla, whose side meets Nondies in the quarters, said he was pleased with his team’s performance despite missing some dependable players.

“Our first win in the Enterprise Cup was sweet. We missed most of our key players due to injuries, national team duty and other commitments, but we won.

With the development team, we hope to take the Nondies clash seriously and progress to the next stage,” said Ocholla.

In Kakamega, Kenya Sevens flanker Davis Chenge inspired Western Bulls to a 19-12 victory over Mwamba. Bulls will now play Impala in the quarters.

“It was a great bounce-back after failing to reach the Kenya Cup play-offs. We produced a superb performance, but we are taking one game at a time.

We need to redeem ourselves and reach the finals,” Chenge told FeverPitch.

Homeboyz booked a date with defending champions Nakuru after trouncing Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad 45-3 in one-sided encounter at the Catholic University grounds.
