Two suspected criminals believed to have been terrorising residents of Kitengela, Kajiado County and its environs have been arrested.

Detectives from Isinya sub-county suspect the two are members of a notorious criminal gang that has been attacking and robbing hoteliers at gunpoint.

Isinya police boss Kinyua Mugambi confirmed the arrest and urged residents to be vigilant, as police move to arrest the other members of the group.

There have been an increase in criminal activities in the area where criminals have been invading business premises and high-rise estates.

It the past two weeks, at least three major hotels have been robbed by criminals posing as customers.

The criminals check into the targeted hotel at different times only to regroup in the wee hours.

The gang of more than 10 men mainly targets electronics and expensive wines.

Speaking yesterday after the arrest of the two suspects who were nabbed at Nairobi area, Mr Mugambi said the two suspects had given them vital leads that will help security agencies dismantle the gang.

"We have been trailing these suspected criminals for a while but we can confidently say that we now have a breakthrough," he said.
