Nandi county officials fined for disobeying assembly summons

Three officials of the county government have been fined Sh1.2 million for failing to honour assembly committee summons.

The committee is investigating loss of construction materials at the county.

The nine-member committee chaired by O’Lessos MCA Emmanuel Mengeech presented a report to the assembly, stating their reasons for fining the officials.

Lost materials

MCAs instituted the committee last May to investigate alleged loss of construction materials meant for Early Childhood Development Education Centers.

Governor Stephen Sang has already suspended 16 officials in connection with the theft.

“The committee was unable to ascertain the actual cost of the stolen materials since it was not supplied with documents to facilitate the inquiry," Mr Mengeech said.
