MCA claims his life is in danger following two raids in his Laikipia home

Laikipia, Kenya: A member of county assembly from Laikipia has claimed his life is in danger and wants the government to offer him security.

Jacob Edung said his home has been attacked twice by armed gangs, in which his brother was shot dead in the first incident.

Edung, who represents Sosian Ward in Laikipia North constituency, told journalists in Nanyuki town that the attacks occurred within a span of two weeks, adding that he fears he was the target in the two incidents.

In the first incident, a gang of four struck at his Magadi home at night and started spraying the houses with bullets.
His brother Elka Edung, succumbed to injuries, while his son, Elim Jacob and a farmhand, Michael Oduor, were seriously injured.

Elim is recuperating at Nakuru Provincial General Hospital while Oduor is admitted to Nyahururu County Hospital.
"I was not at home on that fateful day. I received phone calls from family members, who told me that they were under attack by gunmen who later escaped with my cattle”, Edung said.

And on Saturday night, three gang members attacked his home and fired at occupants, but no injuries were reported.
Edung said the trio, was hiding at the gate before they were found by some villagers, who had paid them a visit.

"The visitors questioned them but they just opened fire. They were lying at the gate and I believe they had ulterior motives. I now fear for my life and that of my family members," said Edung.

According to the MCA, the gang fired more than 30 rounds of ammunition as they escaped. Edung had not arrived home during the attack.

"I am afraid of going home since I fear the attackers may eliminate me. I am asking the government to offer me security," he said.

The MCA also demanded investigations into the two incidents
