Shock has gripped Mugumo area in Ol Kalou after an assistant chief was murdered in cold blood by her husband following a protracted domestic quarrel.

Mrs Grace Nyokabi was stabbed several times with a sharp knife and left  for dead before the assailant threw himself in a neighbour’s water well.

According to area residents, neighbours responding to distress calls found the deceased writhing in pain in a pool of blood.

The Githunguri  Sub-location assistant chief succumbed to the serious injuries she sustained while being rushed to the nearby JM Kariuki Memorial hospital in Ol-Kalou.

According to Rurii Ward Member of the County Assembly Wahome Kamoche, the assailant was traced to the water well where he was rescued and taken to the same hospital where he is recuperating after he was discovered to have taken un-known poison.

“The two are alleged to have picked up a quarrel on Saturday night and it is then that the husband picked a knife and stabbed her several times. He later disappeared and threw himself in a nearby well,” he noted.

Wahome said that neighbours traced him and removed him from the well before he died.

“It is then that took him to hospital where he is being investigated, “ he noted.

The MCA condemned the incidents saying a stern action need to be taken against the suspect adding that it was necessary had they used another way of solving their dispute.

He cautioned parents against engaging in physical fights in front of their children and instead should look for better ways to end the row.

The deceased leaves behind two children as police launch investigations into the matter.
