Pastors from Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church have refuted claims that Christopher Kibet is a their pastor.

They denied knowledge of Kibet, who was charged with 14 counts of criminal offences at an Eldoret court on Wednesday.

The leaders from the headquarters of Western Kenya Conference were reacting to an article that appeared in The Standard yesterday.

Led by Pastor Christopher Misoi, they said they had visited Kibet at Eldoret GK Prison where he denied ever being a pastor. “Kibet is not and has never been a pastor with SDA church.

That is why his connection to the church came as a shock,” said Pastor Misoi.

He added that during the visit, Kibet revealed the title pastor was a street nickname. Misoi said their congregation were equally shocked by the news and expressed their uttermost displeasure with the incident likely to soil the church’s reputation.

Kibet, was among other things, accused of obtaining Sh1.14 million from Barclays Bank on April 13, 2011, in form of a loan.
