With an easy smile that lights up his chubby face, revealing the prominent gap in his front upper teeth, Kanda Bongo Man takes his eyes off the plate of deep fried fish and osuga (traditional vegetables) to acknowledge our arrival by slightly tipping his green, velvet, godfather hat. With his cheery "It’s good to see you," that could have been aimed at long lost friends, we are instantly taken away by the fabled Kanda charm. Dressed in a blue African attire with generous white embroidery and brown leather shoes, the musician appears to have lost none of his flamboyant sense of fashion.
