Mouthwatering lamb chops to satisfy your meat craving

I finally took a break from my office desk and decided to search for a place I could unwind right in the middle of Central Business District. Besides, who has time to take a trip out of town whenever they need to clear their head?

The saying ‘all work and no play’ was becoming true in my life and so I decided to give some attention to ‘play’. Besides life is not a rehearsal – there is one life and one must work hard and play hard as well.

After a gym work out and spa treatment at the Hilton Nairobi health club, it was time to reward my rumbling tummy with some delicious lamp chops. I preferred to have lunch at the Hilton’s pool deck restaurant. Though strategically positioned at the heart of Central Business District, I was amazed that I could barely hear the sound from the streets.

As I relaxed at my table overlooking the swimming pool my mind wandered away at the therapeutic sight of the chlorinated blue water as the sun rays warmed up my skin.

I almost always enjoy lamb chops so I place my order and as I await my meal, I marvel at how one can find an oasis right at the heart of Nairobi city.

The lamb chops arrive and Executive Chef, Yvonnick Jegat- Deniau takes time to explain how he prepared the meal.

The chops are marinated with olive oil, garlic, herbs, salt and pepper for 5 – 10 minutes. They are then grilled for six to seven minutes on each side using a gas or charcoal grill. The fork tender meat is served with blanched vegetables of brocholli, cauliflower and carrots boiled in salty water and sauted in butter.

To accompany the chops are crispy finished deep fried potatoes which I intend to eat as little as possible in pursuit of an elusive waistline. A delicious a roux sauce accompanies the meal which is made from simmering roasted bones with vegetables in a pot and thickened with equal quantities of flour and melted butter.

With just the right amount of seasoning, the meal tastes as good as it looks, a reminder that life must be seasoned with just the right amount of delights and pleasure so that we live a life where work, play and family time are well balanced to maximize all of life’s experiences.
