FKF chiefs in Coast to open office and start a New Year

By Ernest Ndunda

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Chairman Sam Nyamweya starts his 2012 working programme in Mombasa on Sunday with a series of functions.

Nyamweya arrived in Mombasa yesterday to usher in the New Year at the coastal town and will be accompanied by some of his National Executive Committee members as he starts the year hoping to bring changes in Kenyan football.

The football boss starts the year by opening the new federation’s South Coast offices adjacent to the Mombasa Municipal Stadium.

Nyamweya will be accompanied by NEC members Hussein Terry (Coast), Robert Asembo (Nairobi), George Wanaina (Central), Tom Alila (Nyanza) and Harambee Stars captain Dennis Oliech.

He will meet Mombasa sub-branch officials after opening the branch offices.

He will later cross to Panorama Hotel where he will chair a meeting of South Coast branch and Mombasa sub-branch clubs.

Nyamweya was not happy when a group, which was defeated during the October 29 election, moved to court to challenge the results for alleged irregularities during the exercise.

The football boss is set to make his federation’s stand known on the issue because the disbanded Kenya Football Federation (KFF), Football Kenya Limited (FKL) and Fifa had signed an agreement prior to the election.

According to the pre-election agreement, it was agreed that both parties accept the verdict of the polls and refrain from seeking arbitration in court.

The FKF chief is later set to attend the finals of Babunoon Under-14 finals at 11am at Ronald Ngala Primary School before wrapping up his schedule by gracing the final match of the Mombasa Under 17 at Mombasa Sports Club at 4.00pm.

Saragoi will play Jomvu Stars in the Mombasa Under-17 football final, which will also be the last match of the year 2011 in Mombasa.
