Back from vacation

I have just returned from a refreshing and, hopefully, well-deserved rest from Ligega (Ugenya) to Mombasa, where I hang out at neat places like New Big Tree by the beach, next to the seaside breeze – and generally just took it easy. Too bad I never got to meet the Iberian midget in the name of Jose Mourinho, the ‘Special One,’ whom I hear was in the vicinity, to give him piece of mind.

While I was away, the Pulse team led by my able deputy captain, Tony Ngare, did a super job. Congratulations guys.

Now I’m back in Nairobi, with its crazy traffic jams from Mombasa Road to L.A. — but ‘crazy’ is what Pulse is all about, so maybe I’ll just tune in to X-FM today in readiness for rock Burn-Off at Carnivore tomorrow — and hum ‘la la, la la la la.’

Last month as the Smitta popped off north to Canada claiming, "this continent is getting over-crowded by white World Cup immigrants," I popped down South — where the ‘Big Brother All Stars’ are being housed and hosted by the reality folk of M-Net.

Big Brother Africa has been going on for the past seven years, and is now in its fifth edition — the one that they get some of the popular/controversial BBA figures back. Who would I have liked to see from Kenya?

Not really Alex Holi who seemed a little like a rowdy college rudge boy (oh, which he was) and certainly not Jeff Anthony, the novelist-cum-mushroom man who was a little too pumped-up, in mind, manners and muscle, for my liking. Jeremy was cool, but perhaps a little too laid-back to win this throat-cutting competition, and Ted Muthusi, whom we expected to blow the rest of the competitors out of the water arrived with a bang — but in the words of the poet T.S. Eliot, "exited with a whimper."

So, Sheila Kwamboka again, it is, and she is, and it is she! Life loves giving Sheila chances — from being the national beauty queen, to going for ‘Big Brother’ to going for ‘Big Brother,’ again! Fortune has shown her its teeth — and it is time she embraced and kissed it. For few get so many chances to ‘win the prize.’ Pulse was in SA and brings you also an exclusive interview with ragga superstar Sean Paul.
