MTV MAMA countdown

With one week to go, The Road to MAMA is now headed to Accra, Ghana, for a concert that will feature live performances by Ghanaian artistes like Sarkodie, R2Bees and Richie plus special guest, Nigerian MAMA 2009 Award nominee, Wande Coal tomorrow. Ghanaian MTV award nominee Samini will also be performing. Last week the MTV Road to MAMA was in Zambia where Zambian artists JK, Petersen and Slap D performed live with South African hip hop trio and MAMA 2008 Award winners, Jozi and Da L.E.S., a double nominee in this year’s MAMA Awards.

"The Zambian show was electric! I’ve never MC’d a crowd like that before...real live and real cool people. The weather was fantastic, the females off the chain and the party was none stop!" says MTV VJ Emukule Ekirapa who was MC at the event. The MTV VJ is looking forward to Ghana where he will also be MCing. "Kenya will be on everyone’s lips once I’m through." The Road to MAMA are a series of concerts running through Tanzania, Zambia, Nigeria and Ghana in preparation for the MTV MAMA awards being held in Nairobi next Saturday. Kenyan artistes Wahu, Amani, Nameless and STL have been nominated in what will be one of the most anticipated award shows to be held in Kenya. Grammy award winning singers/producers Wycleff Jean and Akon have confirmed their participation in the show.
