Kenya College of Accountancy University (KCA-U) defeated Sprite Storms 54-34 at a women’s Premier League match played at Nyayo National Stadium Gymnasium on Sunday.

KCA-U had all the pressure to win owing to the 73-35 loss to the women’s Premier League runners-up Eagle Wings on Saturday.

KCA-U, coached by Charles Goro, also won against the Nairobi Pentecostal Church (NPC) whom they edged 59-55 in the men’s Division One league.

But KCA-U’s encounter against World Hope in the category did not bear fruits as the latter soared with a 48-33 victory.

The much anticipated clash at the weekend pitting league champions Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) and new kids on the block Eastern Queens was postponed to a further date since KPA are in Uganda to defend the East and Central Club championships trophy which they won last year in Ethiopia.

KPA men, Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) Lions and Eagle Wings are also in Kampala to seek regional glory in the same event.

Blazers, who commanded the Men’s Division One standings for four weeks till last week after being toppled by Masinde Muliro University, continued to dip in standings on Sunday.

Blazers lost to the points-hungry NPC, who won the tight encounter 70-62.

Africa Nazarene University (ANU) has continued on a losing streak and rest at the bottom of the table in the category.

Soared high

ANU suffered a 74-58 loss to World Hope who won two matches at the weekend. Strathmore University won 73-58 against the University of Nairobi’s Terrorists in a men’s Premier League match.

Women’s match pitting KCA-U and Sprite Storms started on a low note at the near-empty Nyayo National Stadium Gymnasium on Sunday.

Storms soared high in the first quarter with the aid of Angela Luchivya, who was full of energy and inspiring at both ends of the court.

An anxious coach Goro could not stomach 13-7 loss to Storms in the first quarter.

He reprimanded his girls at the side lane in the remaining quarters, which worked wonders as the duo of Everlyn Adhiambo and Monica Adhiambo came to life and propelled KCA-U to glory. KCA-U won the rest of the quarters 17-7,14-10 and 16-4 to register 54-34 tally on their favour.
