Victory is ours, a confident Raila Odinga assures supporters, asks for calm

"I have held discussions with the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and I assured him that we will continue making our contribution in Africa's region peace and security when we take over government," said Raila.

At the same time, Raila urged his supporters, while addressing mourners in Kitui County, to keep hope alive, saying he was convinced his petition at the Supreme Court would sail through.

"We are sure we won this election and we want to thank you for voting for us. That vote is not lost so don't despair," he said at Thitani village in Kitui, during the burial of Fredrick Ngula Mwendwa, father to Apostle Francis Musili of ATG Deliverance Ministry.

"I am not threatening the court. We are only asking for justice. I am not worried at all, the victory is ours," he said.

Kitui Governor Julius Malombe, Senator Enoch Wambua and MP Charles Nguna (Mwingi West) and Irene Kasalu (Woman Rep) also attended.

Malombe said the Kamba community would remain solidly behind the Raila-Kalonzo Musyoka alliance, saying if a fresh election is called, the community would still come out in large numbers to vote for them.

While calling for justice and fairness in court, Senator Wambua said the Kamba community would wait for Odinga-Kalonzo signal.

"You have told us to wait for the decision of the court and we shall wait for your signal and that of our leader Kalonzo Musyoka. We shall go wherever you tell us to go," Wambua said.

Meanwhile, Kalonzo has urged residents of Kitui Rural to elect his party's candidate David Mwalika in tomorrow's election.

On Friday, Kalonzo and several Wiper MPs toured the constituency and rallied support for the incumbent MP.

Mwalika will be facing his only competitor, Charles Nyamai of UDA, who served as MP until 2017. If Mwalika wins, Wiper party will have six MPs in Kitui County out of eight.

Back in Nairobi, Raila presidential campaign board chairman Ndiritu Muriithi said they believe Raila was the democratically-elected fifth president and that the country must go beyond the usual rituals and have meaningful elections.

The former Laikipia governor said better democratic practices should start with a fair presidential election that reflects the true will of the people and where it is not a must for a candidate to have additional agents to ensure free, fair and credible elections.

"Why should we have IEBC officials paid with public money not conducting free, fair and credible election?" he asked.

He said Azimio team was ready for governorship elections in Mombasa and Kakamega counties, as well as in Kitui Rural, Pokot South, Kacheliba and Rongai constituencies and Mukuru Kwa Njenga and Nyaki wards.
