Nairobi governor-elect Johnson Sakaja and his main competitor in the August 9 gubernatorial race Polycarp Igathe on Thursday met up for coffee.

Sakaja had promised to look for Igathe and hold talks after he (Sakaja) won the hotly contested governorship race.

Sakaja, the outgoing Nairobi senator, ran on the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party ticket while Igathe contested on Jubilee Party ticket.

Senator Sakaja got 699,393 votes to be declared the winner, defeating Igathe who polled 573,516 votes.

Igathe, consequently, conceded defeat, prompting Sakaja to invite him for coffee.

"[I had] a wonderful conversation and laughs with my brother Polycarp Igathe this afternoon," Sakaja said on his Twitter page on Thursday.
