Mudavadi: Ignore claims of pact between Ruto and I, they are fake

ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi has dismissed as fake news one of the stories in today’s dailies indicating that he and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetang’ula will back Deputy President William Ruto 2022 presidential bid.

Mudavadi in his official twitter handle hit out at Daily Nation which carried the reports for pushing his political detractors’ agenda.

He said it was unprofessional for the publication to distort the reality to push his political enemies’ narrative.

“Is this what you call professional journalism? Your headline is a distortion of reality. Whose narrative are you pushing? Fake News!,” he tweeted on Saturday.

Mudavadi allies have dismissed the alliance talks saying they are sponsored Mudavadi haters.

Led by Lurambi MP Titus Khamala, they claim the alliance talk is aimed at driving a wedge between the ANC party leader and President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“We as ANC, we support Uhuru’s agenda for this country. We know haters don’t like Mudavadi-Uhuru relationship and they want to separate them,” he said.

Khamala said as ANC their presidential candidate for 2022 remains Mudavadi, therefore, the party cannot enter into an alliance that states otherwise.

“Our candidate for 2022 remains Mudavadi, forget about other rumours and propaganda our enemies are spreading,” he added.

The trio is said to have been in talks over a possible political alliance ahead of the 2022 election which culminated into the formation of technical to thrash out a roadmap for a union which will see either Mudavadi or Wetang’ula becomes Ruto’s running mate.

It was reported that aides of the trio held a meeting at DP Ruto’s Karen home on June 12 and created a technical team to flesh out details of the deal.

The meeting brought Jubilee (those from Western allied to the DP), ANC and Ford Kenya together.

DP Ruto allies led by Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali and his Kimilili counterpart Didmus Barasa are said to have attended the closed-door meeting.

The technical team appointed will prepare a report to be submitted to the principals on the way forward.
