Kalonzo Musyoka reads riot act to ward reps, Ngilu

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka (pictured) has said he will not tolerate being dragged into political tussles pitting Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu and the county assembly over budgetary allocations.

Warning he was not “a smooth soup to gulp”, Kalonzo said his patience was fast running out and that he would “whip members of county assembly and Ngilu” if his warning isn’t heeded.

The former vice president said he was dismayed that whenever there was a disagreement between  Ngilu’s administration and the assembly, some people invoked his name without any justification.

He spoke during the burial of Florence Kavisu, the mother of his aide and press attaché Dennis Kavisu in Muthale, Kitui West, at the weekend.

“I want to read a riot act to the fighting groups in the county government and the assembly that I will not sit and watch as the antagonists malign me. I will not keep quiet, I will fight back. This mockery in Kitui must end,” Kalonzo fumed.

Open disrespect

He said it was time Wiper and affiliated MCAs and Ngilu’s supporters dropped the “open disrespect and misbehaviour”.

Deputy Minority Leader in the assembly Alex ,who read Ngilu’s message of condolence, told Kalonzo to keep off county affairs and concentrate in his presidential ambitions.

Kalonzo said he was aware of plans by his critics to have him stay away from his ukambani political home turf in order to destabilise him in the region ahead of 2022.

The party leader told Ngilu and governors Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni) and Alfred Mutua (Machakos) to stop burying their heads in the sand and showcase unity of purpose.

Lately, Ngilu has been involved in a pull and push with Kalonzo’s Wiper-allied MCAs, with the governor accusing them of working against her development agenda.
