URP kicks out five delegates ahead of Jubilee merger

The United Republican Party has kicked out five delegates ahead of its national delegate’s conference in Nairobi.

The delegates were struck off the list because of their perceived support to Governor Isaac Ruto’s Chama Cha Mashinani.

Top party officials led by Bomet Senator Wilfred Lesan and Sotik MP Joyce Laboso met on Monday at Sotik Pastoral Centre where it was resolved to remove them.

The meeting was marred by heated political exchanges among the attendants.

Bomet Deputy Governor Stephen Mutai, who is the URP chairman in the county, found himself on the receiving end of attendants who were eager to attend the national conference.

Mr Lesan while announcing the resolution of the meeting said the decision to remove the five delegates was to create a middle ground for the team that will travel to Nairobi where URP will be dissolved so that members join Jubilee Party.
