Upper Hill’s steep descent

If you haven’t been to Nairobi’s Upper Hill lately, Catherine Muthoni invites you to visit the area. In the last few years, all kinds of buildings have been put up there, changing the landscape for the better.

But as you plan your visit to the picturesque Upper Hill, Muthoni cautions that roads there are not worth their name and walking or driving on some sections is a nightmare.

Some road contractors, she reports, downed their tools without considering “there is need for movement both on foot and wheels”.

“For instance, to access TSC and its environs on foot from Kilimanjaro Road, if you are not trying to jump across some trench you have to have the best skills in balancing especially with the mud now, due to the rains.”

Good fall

Muthoni wants the contractors to sort out whatever issues they have and, at least, make pathways usable

“Many ladies, including yours truly, here have lost good pair of shoes while some men have had the rare chance to kiss the ground, owing to a good fall,” she reveals. Heard of these exciting (mis)adventures, Kenya Urban Roads Authority?
